What is Microneedling?

Microneedling is a procedure that uses tiny sterile needles to puncture the skin. This "tricks" the skin into thinking it is injured, so then it produces new collagen and elastin in response. The "micro-injuries" don't cause scars or permanent damage. Instead, they trigger a reaction in which the skin starts repairing itself using a natural process known as dermal remodeling.

The procedure leaves the skin looking younger, plumper, healthier, and smoother, with less noticeable scars and wrinkles. We often simultaneously use PRP/PRF when Microneedling to use your body's natural healing mechanisms to enhance results.

Microneedling Procedure

Microneedling is a simple, straightforward treatment that is usually performed in an hour or less, though your treatment might vary based on your tailored treatment plan. First, you'll consult with one of our licensed providers to discuss your concerns and treatment goals.

On your appointment day, we will get you situated in a comfortable treatment space and start by cleaning your skin of any dirt or impurities. We then topically apply a mild anesthetic (numbing cream) to the treatment area.

After the numbing takes effect, your aesthetic professional will start the procedure by gliding over your skin with our Microneedling device. Using hair-fine needles, microchannels are created in your skin to stimulate the production of new skin cells and collagen. There is very minimal pain or discomfort while the procedure is taking place. Microneedling only takes 15 to 20 minutes, but we book you out for a one-hour appointment to include numbing and post-care education.

Microneedling Recovery

After your Microneedling treatment is finished, our experienced medical providers will provide exact aftercare instructions to ensure you get the most out of your treatment. Georgetown microneedling patients can usually expect a degree of redness and tightness in the targeted area, like a sunburn, for up to five days.

Microneedling Results

We expect nothing less than healthier and more radiant-looking skin as a result of completing a Microneedling session with us here at The Refinery.
