Use Your Blood to Rejuvenate Your Skin

PRP Injections can return your skin to its youthful, lustrous glow — and your body may already hold the key. Injections and microneedling procedures with platelet-rich plasma or fibrin (PRP or PRF) from your own body can rejuvenate damaged skin, restore a healthy appearance, and may even help hair regrow.

At the Refinery in Georgetown PRP injections are offered as part of our mission to provide you with the expert and compassionate care you deserve. We believe looking your best shouldn’t make you anxious, so you can depend on our experienced team for the latest in aesthetic treatments — including PRP/PRF injections and microneedling — that will help you look and feel your natural, beautiful best.

What Are PRP Injections?

Treatments with platelet-rich plasma (PRP) and platelet-rich fibrin (PRF) are a form of autologous blood therapy that can be used in injections or microneedling. The different delivery methods are designed to address a variety of health and wellness conditions.

In all cases, the PRP/PRF is derived from the patient’s own blood. Prior to the procedure, a specific amount of blood is drawn. It is then processed to concentrate the platelets and remove the red blood cells. Once this is complete, the PRP/PRF is then returned to the body to allow its healing properties to work in the targeted area.

Am I a Good Candidate for PRP Injections?

During your consultation, we’ll go over your complete medical history to make sure your PRP Injections treatment is safe for you.

If you have a complaint like any of those listed previously and are generally in good health overall, you’re probably a good candidate for treatments with PRP. People who don’t have any serious medical conditions (i.e., heart disease, cancer, diabetes) or an active infection usually respond well to the treatment.

Because PRP is derived from your blood, make sure you tell your aesthetic professional if you have any blood diseases or are taking any medications that may interfere with your blood’s ability to clot. We always recommend that our patients talk with their primary care physician before undergoing any elective treatments.

How do I know if PRP Injections are right for me?

PRP Injections treatments can be used to address a variety of common aesthetic complaints. Some of these may include:

  • Static and dynamic wrinkles
  • Loose or sagging skin
  • Discoloration
  • Sunken or hollow features
  • Scars
  • Thinning or loss of hair

When you visit us, we’ll take the time to get to know you and evaluate your condition. Together, we will craft a customized treatment plan specifically designed to address your concerns and meet your needs. At The Refinery, we strive to provide the best PRP Injections Georgetown has to offer.

PRP Injection Procedure

Treatments with PRP Injections are done as outpatient procedures, so you can expect to be home and resting on the same day as your procedure.

Keep in mind your exact procedure may vary depending on your specific needs. The treatment begins with your medical professional drawing some of your blood — usually between 10 and 60mL, depending on the scope of your treatment. This blood is then processed in a centrifuge to separate and remove the red blood cells. Once complete, the remaining PRP or PRF is prepared for implantation.

For an injection treatment, the PRP/PRF is loaded into a syringe and injected under the skin of the targeted region. This procedure may be repeated around the area as needed. This technique allows for natural, balanced results. For microneedling, the blood-derived compound is put into a specialized microneedling device. This device — typically consisting of a battery of tiny needles — is applied to the skin over the extent of the targeted area.

PRP Injection Recovery

Recovery from PRP injections or microneedling is usually relatively quick and painless. You may experience some tenderness and discoloration, but this should resolve itself in a day or two. Most patients do not experience significant discomfort as their body heals and can expect recovery to be complete within a week.

PRP InjectionResults

Once your recovery is complete, you can expect your results to be readily apparent. Your skin should appear fuller and more vibrant. The appearance of wrinkles, discolored spots, and scars should be reduced or even eliminated in some cases. PRP/PRF treatments are not permanent and may require multiple treatments for results to last. Results will vary depending on the uniqueness of your body and based on how diligent you are at caring for and protecting your skin.
